RB22 and pedestrian barriers in Farnborough

The problem

The British Roadshow returned to Farnborough this year. With 250 exhibits, 3500 driving experiences and 100 live shows and events across the site, they needed to enlist the experts to assist with crowd control and safety.

All the products were hired out to the organisers but installed by ourselves.

The solution

Our installs team were deployed to Hampshire to help set up 182 RB22 water-filled barriers, pedestrian barriers and temporary fencing. Multiple teams worked together to ensure that over 1,000 pedestrian barriers (2.3m) were positioned according to plans and requirements. The crash tested RB22 barriers were positioned and filled to mark out an area for showcasing vehicles demonstrations, with pedestrian barriers used for crowd control in the surrounding area.

SafeSite also provided additional accessories for the project including rubber feet, couplers, stabilisers, mesh panels and a bolt and washer set for the RB22s.

The outcome

The event was very well attended and very successful. Almost 60,000 visitors attended the show which spanned 4 days and featured 250 exhibitors.  The barriers and mesh fences completed their role and kept traffic and visitors in order for the duration of the event.
