Public Health England has released guidance about working safely on construction sites during Coronavirus, which includes a number of ways to help reduce the transmission of infection on-site whilst enabling operatives to continue working.
As well as cleaning touchpoints and machinery and cohorting (working in small groups), the guidance also recommends regular handwashing to minimise coronavirus infection risks. Workers should wash their hands on arrival at site, before and after eating, after coughing or sneezing, and as soon as they get home.
Due to the nature of building work, regular hand washing can be difficult. You can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 on-site by providing SafeSite Facilities’ portable hand washing stations for regular sanitisation. These self- contained units provide the ideal solution for temporary hygiene facilities for your construction site or workplace.
Our portable hand wash stations are available to buy or hire and we offer nationwide delivery. Contact us today for a free quote.
We also recognise that as well as tackling the physical threat of coronavirus, it is equally important to look after workers’ mental health as the industry adapts to new ways of working. That’s why we’re pleased to signpost construction employers and employees to the following resources and support services:
To help protect and support workers, the Considerate Constructors Scheme has launched it’s ‘Spotlight on Mental Health’, raising awareness of how mental health can affect anyone, and providing examples of best practice and information about the law and legislation on mental health for construction employers.
The Construction Industry Helpline is a support system for construction workers dealing with stress, depression and anxiety issues. It is a charitable service providing emergency financial help to construction families in crisis, advice on occupational health and mental wellbeing, and support on legal, tax and debt management matters. Those working in the construction industry, as well as their families, can contact the 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline in confidence on 0345 605 1956.
