Midlands Development Site – Fence-Lok System with Temporary Fencing

SafeSite Facilities was approached by a client working on a prestigious development site that required temporary fencing to secure a safe working area. The client was replacing existing hoarding on site and needed to establish a secure perimeter around a water feature. The new fencing solution had to meet all temporary works requirements and provide both security and safety for personnel working near the water.

Given the site’s high profile, the client insisted on a professional installation that adhered to strict deadlines to avoid any disruptions to the project’s overall timeline.

Prior to starting the works, a site visit was carried out for onsite load testing by the means of a pull test on the ground, this forms the temporary works design and a part of our installation method.

Challenges:

The main challenges during this project included:

Solution:

After conducting a thorough site survey and discussing the specific needs with the client, SafeSite Facilities recommended the Fence-Lok system for its ease of installation, security, and suitability for meeting temporary works requirements.

The solution involved the following:

• 265 metres of temporary mesh fencing installed using the Fence-Lok system. This provided an effective barrier for the construction site while maintaining visibility for workers.
• Stabilising braces were used to ensure the fencing remained secure and stable, even in windy conditions.
• Ground screws were chosen for their minimal environmental impact and ability to secure the fence to the ground without the need for concrete, which helped avoid potential site disruption.

Execution:

Once the plan was finalized, SafeSite Facilities coordinated a dedicated team to install the temporary fencing system. Despite some initial logistical challenges, the team worked efficiently to install the mesh fencing with stabilising braces and ground screws.

The Fence-Lok system was chosen for its simplicity and strength, allowing us to install the fence quickly without compromising stability. The stabilising braces ensured that the fence was secure, even in areas with higher wind exposure, while the ground screws provided an eco-friendly, robust solution for securing the posts.
